Your articulate and well-constructed observations flow very gracefully, and set a high standard.<br /><br />I've been surprised at my own response to Ms. Evancho's performances, but I see it's not so different from that of a bunch of others. A lot of her renderings have made me fall for songs I never much cared for previously.<br /><br />In Kubrick's movie 2001, he juxtaposes the visual ballet of a planet shuttle docking at a slowly rotating low-orbit space-port, with Strauss's Blue Danube. That much-abused and over-exposed piece took on a whole new depth and richness for me at that moment. And that's how I take your meaning when you say she "re-contextualizes," but I doubt she would describe herself that way...<br /><br />Maybe I need to get a professional counselor to understand my hostility to the movie about the chocolate factory....
